The Facilities and Activities of Munduk Moding Plantation Nature Resort and Spa

Enjoy our 18 meter infinity pool with a panoramic view of the rolling hills, Bali’s central mountains and the Java sea. On a clear day you have a view of more than 50 kilometers onto Java. You can take in the same view from our jacuzzi-deck. We are very proud that our infinity pool has been elected as the world's third top Infinity Pool by Asia Spa Munduk Moding Plantation is a coffee plantation, but we also grow a wide variety of tropical fruits, vegetables and flowers. There is also a forest area, with bamboo growth and lotus ponds. You will be given a guided tour and receive a detailed map allowing you to explore Munduk Moding Plantation on your own. There are several hills on Munduk Moding Plantation and you can enjoy the views, enjoy a book from the library in one of our Bale Bengongs spread out over the plantation – these will be supplied with drinks should you get thirsty.	Munduk Moding Plantation has been a coffee plantation for many decades, growing mainly Robusta with some Arabica, but maintenance was poor. It was purchased by present management in September 2007 and sustainable agriculture was introduced on the plantation covering a wide variety of fruits (e.g. papaya, strawberries, pomolo, apple, orange) and vegetables (e.g. beans, lettuce, chili, potato), including some mountain rice. Popo Danes, the much decorated Balinese architect, designed the boutique hotel in a unique Balinese style specifically developed for this hill station. Our master plan foresees a low density of development to maximize privacy and the feeling of being close to nature. The first buildings were completed in 2009 and Munduk Moding Plantation celebrated its ceremonial opening on 28 June 2009.
To help you discover North Bali's fascinating nature and culture, Munduk Moding Plantation (MMP) provides the following free services for our guest: A daily trek on our coffee plantation during which our guide will help you better understand the plants, trees, and crops at MMP A cultural activity is organized daily to initiate guests in a particular aspect of Balinese culture. These include: preparation of offerings, coffee processing, Balinese cooking class and a visit to a local cock fight. A shuttle services operates twice daily to Munduk, the lake area (Buyan and Tamblingan) and Bedugul, allowing you to explore these areas at your own convenience. Our library provides a wide range of books on Balinese culture and nature You can also borrow a pair of binocular and a field guide to study the prolific bird life at MMP We serve a Balinese sweet at the afternoon tea or coffee. This varies every day to allow you to sample different delicacies. The typical ingredients include: coconut, palm sugar, honey, banana, and rice flour A small fire is lighted every evening: a great place to take in the skies of the Southern hemisphere and the views of the coastline and villages in the distance In addition, MMP offers: Free WiFi An extensive selection of DVDs that can be borrowed from the library for private viewing at your villa A large variety of back copies of magazines to enjoy at our pool side An electronic copy of the day's edition of the International Herald Tribune to be borrowed from our reception from August 2012 onwards

We have two friendly Bali ponies – the local Balinese horse – which you can ride on the Plantation although it is highly recommended to explore the lakes and countryside in the vicinity on horseback. Enjoy a game of tennis or badminton on our court – equipment provided.

There are several cultural and other tours available from half a morning to a full day. Explore an Aga Bali – the original inhabitants of Bali – Village nearby and learn about palm sugar production. Visit the Bali Botanical Gardens near lake Bratan and explore its wild orchids. Discover Bali’s signature Hindu meru temple – the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan – situated on the shores of the lake and observe one of the many festivals. Alternatively, you can explore the local vegetable and craft market at Bedugul and visit the hot springs closer to the coast. Finally, Bali being a small island, within easy reach there is spectacular snorkelling and diving at Pemuteran and Menjangan island which we can arrange for you through our contacts with a reputable and safe diving operator. Dolphin watching at Lovina can similarly be organized for you.
