Munduk Moding Coffee Plantation has affordable luxury accommodation in North Bali, All the private villas and public spaces are hidden away between the lush vegetation. A visitor’s first impression of the nature resort will be that of arriving in a coffee plantation surrounded by jungle.
Designed by award winning Bali architect, Popo Danes, the villas and suites at Munduk Moding Plantation marry key features of Balinese architecture with a modernist tradition, adapted to the environment of this hill station.
From the summer of 2011 onwards just five villas and five suites are available rendering a stay at Munduk Moding Plantation an intimate experience where you can enjoy unparalleled privacy. Small groups can rent the entire plantation.
Villas
The villas boast superb views of the rolling hills down to the sea, overlooking rice fields and jungle in the distance. In the evening the view is of the sun setting in the Java sea.
The villas are very spacious (55m²) with tropical hardwood (merbau) parquet floors in the bed and living room and Sulawesi cream marble in the bathroom. King-size poster beds, couches made from tropical hardwood, high quality cotton and linen and local artworks work together to produce a warm interior. Huge glass panel doors provide unparalleled views in all directions. A large hand finished terrazzo bath-tub invites for soaking one’s limbs in mellow mountain water which can be filled with essential flagrances (provided upon request).
An indoor shower with sinks for him and for her completes the indoor bathroom. An outdoor shower in a private garden filled with flowers allows for rinsing one’s body in nature.
Private dining is possible both in the villa or on the secluded terrace while a DVD-audio-iPod station and flat screen TV guarantee that you will not have to miss out any of your favorite music of movies – or the news (in the unlikely event that you would wish to follow this).

Sky Suites and Garden Suites
Munduk Moding Plantation presently offers a unit of two sky suites, located on the second floor of the main building, overlooking the swimming pool and the Bali sea. The sky suites are an excellent option for a family or a group of up to six friends since they come with a huge private terrace with panoramic views of the hills and the Bali sea The basic materials are the same as in the villas : hardwood merbau floors and sulawesi cream marble in the bathroom. The sky suites also boast a hand polished terrazzo bathtub. Both are en-suite.
The first sky suite has a surface of some 25m² and has twin beds, handcrafted local furniture and designs made from local materials as well as tropical hard wood.
The second sky suite is similar to the first but, in addition, offers a sizeable study room with a reading and TV watching area. This second room can be closed by sliding doors and transformed in a second bedroom.
Munduk Moding Plantation also offers three Garden suites. These are located in a separate building which itself is situated in the coffee plantation with views of the surrounding greenery and the rolling hill down to the sea. No effort has been spared to assure the privacy of each of the suites, through insulation and landscaping. The garden suites all have private and semi covered terraces from which the scenery can be taken in " alfresco". The bedrooms in the suites have merbau parquet floors, huge windows and glass sliding doors, four poster beds and are decorated with local artworks inspired by nature. The en-suite bathroom echoes this theme by combining Sulawesi cream marble floors with a section executed in natural stone and indigenous plants. The wash-basins are supported by an old coffee tree while a sky light floods the shower and terrazzo bath-tube with natural light.
Facilities in all suites are identical to those in the villas.
Two bedroom pool villa
MMP's two bedroom pool villa is the most private and luxurious place to stay at MMP. Set aside on a separate part of the plantation, the compound consists of two separate bedroom villas, a living and dining room, a heated pool as well as a bale bengong and extensive private gardens. This villa comes with your own private butler and is the ideal place to stay for small groups who relish their privacy and rate understated luxury. The bedrooms are essentially similar to those in the villas - superb views, big panorama windows and glass sliding doors, merbau parquet and beautifully appointed en suite bathrooms in Sulawesi cream marble with terrazo bathtubs, separate shower rooms, washbasins for him and her - flooded by natural light from a skylight. The living and dining room is set between the two bedrooms and overlooks a terrace of palimanan stone, the swimming pool and the landscaped gardens. It boasts comfortable couches, local artwork, a small private library as well as a pantry and a dining area. The landscaping ensures that the area is secluded from the other villas whilst maximising the views of the Bali sea, the jungle and the rolling hills. Your butler will help make your stay as comfortable as possible and is available at all times. Meals can be served at any time in the villa. The two bedroom villa easily accommodate 6 guests when the sitting area is transformed in an additional bedroom.
Each bedroom in this villa offers the same facilities as a one bedroom villa, with additional services available in the living and dining room area.
