Sustainability Workshops

Workshops

Munduk Moding Plantation (MMP) embraces the concept of Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes the harmonious relationship between humans, nature, and the environment. As Bali's tourism industry has rapidly evolved, this philosophy has become increasingly important in addressing environmental challenges.

At MMP, we strive for truly sustainable tourism that is economically, socially, and environmentally responsible. To share our sustainability practices with our guests, we offer a variety of workshops that provide firsthand experience of how we integrate these principles into our daily operations.

The majority of our workshops are held in our Soap Tree Workshop Hall, a structure constructed in part from recycled materials. The colorful concrete columns feature recycled plastic plates made in our Plastic Recycling Center, and the workshop tiles are made from recycled glass and cement.

  • Candle Making from used Cooking Oil

The candles adorning our restaurant tables are the result of one of our sustainability initiatives. Our candle-making workshop teaches you how to create candles using recycled cooking oil, a material that is harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly.

  • Bamboo Straw Making

Plastic waste, with its slow decomposition rate, is a major contributor to environmental pollution, including soil and sea contamination. To reduce our reliance on plastic, we've adopted eco-friendly bamboo straws for our F&B operations. In addition to providing bamboo straws to our guests, we offer workshops where you can create your own personalized bamboo straws.

  • Used Paper Handicraft Workshop

Discover the art of upcycling paper waste into beautiful handicrafts like photo frames and bokor (Balinese offering containers).

  • Soap Making from Used Cooking Oil

This workshop teaches guests how to create handcrafted soap using recycled cooking oil, a material that is harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly.

  • Bamboo & Wood Carving

Immerse yourself in Balinese art and culture with our Bamboo & Wood Carving workshop. Learn the basics of this ancient craft from local artisans and create your own unique masterpiece in a true Balinese style. This enriching experience fosters a deeper connection to Balinese traditions, promoting a sense of community and cultural appreciation.

  • Recycled Plastic Bracelet Making

Our Bracelet Making Workshop is a unique activity where you can create your own stylish keepsake from recycled plastic. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to reducing our environmental impact by upcycling plastic waste and provides a valuable lesson in sustainable living.

  • Handicraft Creations from Plastic Bags

This engaging workshop allows guests to upcycle discarded plastic bags into beautiful items, reducing environmental impact and supporting sustainable craftsmanship. Guided by local artisans, participants weave, cut, and mold plastic bags into unique creations. This initiative complements our broader sustainability efforts, allowing guests to contribute to reducing plastic pollution while taking home meaningful souvenirs.

  • Reforestation

Reforestation is a cornerstone of our responsible land management practices. We invest in replanting and nurturing the surrounding forests, revitalizing the local ecosystem and offsetting our carbon emissions. This ensures a vibrant and healthy natural environment, preserving the delicate balance of flora and fauna in the region. Guests are welcome to participate in this program, planting trees and contributing to a greener future.

  • Kids English Class

On Sundays, we provide a free English language program for elementary school students from Gobleg Village. To promote environmental awareness, we encourage students to bring plastic wasteBy combining English education with sustainability concepts, we aim to help educate and raise awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic waste. We welcome our guests to join us as volunteer teaching assistants.
